Step Mast, Tune, Pin & Refit BoomRemove mast from storage, crane mast in, re-tension standing rigging and secure, fit boom and all running rigging.

Bend Sails OnRefit sails including battens, reef lines & control lines, luff slides/cars and sail covers/stackpacks. Furling sails operations/handling will be double checked.

Service Work

Pre-season mast & rig appraisalWe appraisal the rig and all rigging related parts of the yacht - A detailed report with images will be provided.

Masthead gear reinstateVHF, anemometer, TV aerial, navigation lights & Windex will be put back from winter storage/care.

Spars - wash, polish & protectMasts & booms will be washed, then coated from top to bottom with ‘Hempel – Alu Protect’ .

Liferaft - reinstateIf your life raft has come back from servicing allow us to refit it for you.

Deckgear - serviceDeck organisers, clutches, travellers, blocks and all moving parts – will be flushed, inspected and re-lubricated.

Mainsail track - lubricateFrom top to bottom of the sail track, batten cars will be serviced and lubricated to aid hoisting the mainsail.

Winches - serviceWinches will be broken down, stripped, de-greased, inspected and re-greased ready for the sailing season.

Running Rigging - wash & serviceAll halyards, controls lines & sheets – will be run through our professional rope washer, then inspected and serviced with frayed ends repaired and whippings applied where necessary.

Running rigging - reinstateWe will refit all running rigging which may have been removed for washing or winter storage.

Refit Sprayhood & DodgersSprayhood will be reinstated and strapped up accordingly. Dodgers will be laced back into place.

Rig Tension - check & tuneStanding rigging tensions will be checked and mast will be tuned to ensure it is in column and straight.

Unstep mast & boom, check and storeMast will be prepared for un-stepping, halyards led to mast, rigging screws marked, & boom removed. Mast will be unstepped and a quick visual inspection performed. Spreaders & mast accessories stripped, lashed and moved to our mast store. Any Rigs over 35ft will have to be fully stripped, this is to include standing rigging as well as the items listed above.

Unstep mast & lash for transportAs above but thoroughly lashed & prepared for road transport. Either lashed to the deck ready for driver to make final checks or placed under the yacht once loaded on road transport.

Unbend sails, valet, service & store descriptionRemove sails, fold up & bag and prepare ready to be sent for valeting & servicing. Battens will be removed & left on board below decks to prevent UV degradation. All associated running rigging will be left neat & tidy.

Unbend sails & store on boardRemove sails, dry and fold up. Sails and battens will be returned to yacht and stored on board below deck to prevent UV degradation. Any associated running rigging will also be left neat & tidy.

Service Work

Complete a mast & rig appraisalWe will check everything from the deck up – from deck gear to masthead sheaves. In short a full MOT for your yacht’s rig & deck gear. Using our newly developed mast & rig app you will receive a highly detailed report accompanied by images with a full breakdown of all the yacht’s rig parts and any advisories.

Remove & store masthead gearA rigger will safely remove mast head lights, Anemometers and aerials. These will be stored on board below deck. Prevents winter bird strikes, any unnecessary wear, whilst prolonging the unit’s life.

Remove Sprayhood/Dodgers for Valeting/Reproofing/ServicingSprayhood and dodgers will be removed and prepared ready to be sent off for valeting & servicing.

Rig tension - check & tuneWe will check the standing rigging has enough tension, the mast is square (upright) and true (not bent). We will tune your rig based on our knowledge and experience. If you have Loos gauge figures we will calibrate the rig to those settings.

Rigging Turnbuckles—thread check & serviceWe will remove turnbuckles, clean the threads, checking they are still in a good strong/serviceable condition. Turnbuckles will then be re-instated using Tefgel which will extend the life of the turnbuckle.

Deckgear – serviceAll moving parts on the deck e.g. Turning blocks, deck organisers, traveller tracks and clutches used for sail control, will be checked, flushed out with hot water and then lubricated.

Winches – serviceServicing of winches should be undertaken at least once a year. Winches will be removed and bought back to the workshop. All old salt & grease will be removed in our parts washers. After washing all winch parts will be inspected for wear. Finally the winch will be re-greased and oiled before being rebuilt and put back on board in situ.

Running Rigging – wash & serviceHalyards, reef lines, sheets and control lines will be moused out & removed. Ropes are initially soaked overnight in fresh water with disinfectant. Ropes are then passed through our custom rope washer and carefully inspected along the full length of rope. Once dried ropes will be serviced, whippings applied, shackles checked and any findings reported back to the owner. Finally ropes will be placed back on board until the yacht is ready to be re-launched and then re-moused into the mast.

Running Rigging – remove & storeAll running rigging will be removed, hanked up, dried and stored on board (below deck) for the winter, to prevent them from going green and being exposed to the elements whilst not in use.

Anchor chain & docklinesWe will remove the yachts anchor chain and check that it is still safe to use, from locker connection right to the anchor, including any splices. Measurement markers can be fitted upon request. Docklines will be checked for chaffes, frays and condition of splices. Whippings will be added to tail ends if they don’t have any.

Liferaft – remove & serviceWe’ll remove the yacht’s liferaft and arrange for it to be serviced and stored over the winter months.
