Chispa is a Hallberg-Rassy 382 built in 1988 one of only 116 built between 1984-92. Unlike the 38’s they included sleeker more modern lines as well as an encapsulated lead keel to allow for a greater sail area. Originally in German ownership under the name "Guapa", She was then sold into Dutch ownership around 1999 when her name was changed to "Chispa”, there she was used predominantly on the Dutch inland waterways until we bought her.
She was bought in the Netherlands in mid-2016 shortly after her current owner’s retirement, when he decided he needed more space, comfort, and convenience than on his previous boat, a gaff-cutter which we'd owned for over 20 years prior.
Since Owning Chispa, her owners have cruised extensively in Ireland, the west coast of Scotland and Outer Hebrides as well as the Isles of Scilly and the West Country. Their onward plan is to extend the range of their Scottish voyaging and to hopefully resume their exploration of the west coast of Ireland just as soon as they can take our 2 Springer Spaniels into Ireland from UK.
While un-stepping Chispa’s mast, the owner decided to also undertake a full in mast furler breakdown service. It was during the removal of the furler that a crack in the mast was spotted, as we investigated further it became apparent that the mast had been overloaded, causing distortion, and therefore leading to the mast being condemned.

Owners testimonial:
I was very pleased with the performance of the new mast, genoa furler and rigging on my recent trip to Scilly at the end of April.
