Desolina is a Wauquiez Pretorien 35 built by Chantier Henri Wauquiez in Mouvaux, France. She is one of only 212 produced between 1970-1986 and has lived in all corners of the world. She was last sailed from New Zealand to the UK where she was then purchased by her current owner.
While doing an electrical job up the mast the riggers noticed some damage around the cap shroud terminals. A full mast & rig appraisal was then booked and due to the damage, the mast was condemned. The owner decided to replace both the mast, boom and standing rigging, as well rectify some other advisories that were picked up through the appraisal.
Her new owner is a skilled sailor, having sailed from a young age on his father’s Albin Vega 27 he now plans to sail around the world, choosing Desolina due to her shape, pedigree and bluewater ability. For now, she lives in the solent where she will be sailed locally in preparation for longer ocean passages.
“I am hoping to document my trips and sailing, so please have a look on my YouTube channel, there is one on the trip to Southampton from Mylor. Like and subscribe of course 😊”
